Vernon Trophy It seems a long while ago now but we set out on our annual westward pilgrimage on Bastille day in good conditions (a spinnaker run out of the harbour!) and a mostly starboard tack route through the E Solent. Some went down the main channel, others went through the Dolphins and some (er) went right over

11 July 2017: Schools Week Event Report

Itchenor Sailing Club Schools Championships Firefly Regatta Day 1 Thursday dawned grey, overcast and damp in Chichester Harbour. Hardly ideal sailing conditions since the wind was light too. However, the 48-strong fleet of Fireflys got away for their first race only a few minutes late caused by the fickle breeze. First to show at the windward mark were Cossie and Izzy Lewis from Sevenoaks School but just behind

8 July 2017: Close racing and beautiful conditions at RS200 Open Day

The 45 RS200s that descended on Itchenor Sailing Club on 8-9 July couldn't have asked for a more beautiful weekend, or a more stunning setting, for a weekend's racing. Race 1 started in a nice 10-knot building sea breeze with the tide already ebbing and pushing boats over the line, which rather inevitably led to a general recall. True to his word the PRO Chris Darling brought out the black flag for

Points Week 2017 will go down as one to remember. The sailing was extremely competitive, the socials were spectacular and the weather was superb. What more could we ask for? The Gwaihir team thought they were in for a quiet week with one or two of the recent fast boats unable to make Points Week but it was not to be. Their long time nemesis Harry and Prue Roome, currently taking a

19 June 2017: Points Week Report

Image David Priscott Itchenor Sailing Club's annual Points Week is a tradition that goes back many decades but rarely has there been a more perfect week weather-wise. With beautiful sunshine and changing wind directions, the weather conditions made for interesting and varied racing throughout the week. For the three classic keelboat classes that race during Points Week XODs, Swallows and Sunbeams, race officer Roger Wickens had decreed that racing

    31 May 2017: Swallow News

The Norman Moore Trophy has been raced for at Itchenor Sailing Club every year since 1953, and over the years has grown in importance to become the premier home event for the National Swallow Class. As several owners and some boats are currently 'off games', a slightly diminished fleet of 17 boats gathered on Saturday morning in a solid 20-25 knots of breeze and sunshine for the first of five races. Swift, having recovered
