Boat Charter / Try Sailing

Our club 2000's, optimists, fevas and mirrors are available for members to hire on a half or full day basis between Wednesday to Sunday throughout the Season.

With a mixed programme of training, cruising, fun racing and regattas each weekend, the 2000 Dinghy Sailing Experience is ideal for families, couples and individuals looking to have fun whilst developing their sailing skills. To take part in one of our weekend event days please book a boat for a whole day.

How it all works

  1. Talk to one of our 2000 Experience team. Let them know if you are a beginner or an existing sailor (both are welcome!)
  2. Join us as a member - for the first year you can enjoy a special introductory members' offer and FREE first use (whole day hire) of one of our 2000 dinghies. Those who have yet to reach the required level to take a boat out on your own you will need to pay a half days training fee.
  3. Book your boat online at £50 for a whole day (09:30 - 16:30) or £35 for half a day (09:30 - 12:30 or 13:00 - 16:30).
If you require tuition as well as boat hire, then please call the office (01243 512400) as we will need to organise your instructor for you. There is an additional fee payable for tuition which is £160 per day or £80 for a half day.
  4. Come down to the Club - sign out your boat (depending on experience) or meet your instructor and get sailing!

To book a boat without an instructor we require that the skipper is able to:-

  • - Rig according to the weather conditions including reefing
  • - Launch and recover the boat in all wind conditions
  • - Tack and Gybe confidently
  • - Sail on all points of sail
  • - Come alongside a moored boat
  • - Capsize and right the boat
  • - Understand basic rules of the road
  • - Recover a man overboard
  • - Understand basic tides - Springs, neaps ebb and flow
  • - Meteorology - Understand basic weather forecasts

If you would like to book a training session with our instructor to get up to speed please don't use the online booking system. Please contact the office on 01243 512400.

We are an RYA recognised training centre accredited to run RYA certified training courses.

You can reserve your boat online here. All boats must be reserved and paid for in advance.
